The average length of a giraffe’s tongue is 45 cm. The giraffe primarily uses its tongue to pull and eat leaves and twigs from trees. The tongue is very tough and coarse, so it doesn’t get affected by any thorns on the branches. It is dark in color, usually bluish or black, which helps protect it from sunburn.
