It takes a chicken 25 hours to produce an egg

Did you know that it takes a chicken about 25 hours to produce an egg that can be laid?

On average, a chicken takes between 24 and 26 hours to produce an egg. The process begins with the development of the yolk in the ovary. After ovulation, the yolk is moved to the oviduct, where the egg white (albumen) is added. Next, the eggshell is formed in the oviduct, which takes several hours. This process also involves the deposition of calcium, which is essential for a strong shell.

Finally, the egg is laid through the cloaca. The time it takes to produce an egg can vary depending on factors such as the breed of the chicken, diet, and health. This is why a chicken does not lay an egg at exactly the same time every day, although some chickens do lay eggs with a fairly consistent frequency.
