Did you know that during the mating season, a lioness can mate as many as dozens of times a day?
During the mating season, which usually lasts for a few weeks, a lioness may mate frequently, possibly dozens of times a day, sometimes every fifteen minutes. However, the typical number is between 10 and 20 times a day. This increased mating frequency is meant to maximize the chance of fertilization and ensure that the lioness becomes pregnant. The frequency can also vary depending on circumstances and individual lions. During mating, the lion bites the lioness by the neck for grip.
