An average person uses 3,500 words to express themselves

Did you know that the average person uses 3,500 words to express themselves in daily life?

For everyday conversations, an average of 3,500 words is sufficient. If we also consider words that we don’t use daily or frequently, such as technical jargon or derived words, the total number of words used rises to about 30,000. In comparison, the Dutch dictionary (Dikke van Dale) contains around 220,000 words.

So, the number of words we use on a daily basis is only a fraction of the total number of words in the dictionary.
