The term “bug” (error) in software comes from insect

Did you know that the term “bug” (error) in software comes from insect (or bug)?

The origin of the term “bug” dates back to 1947, when a physical insect (a moth) was found in a computer, a Mark II calculator at Harvard University. The insect caused a malfunction in the system. The technicians who found the insect recorded in the logbook that they had found a “bug.” Although the word “bug” had been used earlier to denote technical problems, this incident helped popularize the term within the world of computers.

So it was literally a “bug” in the machine, and since then, the term has been used to refer to errors or malfunctions in software and hardware.
