Did you know…

The fastest animal on Earth is the Peregrine falcon

Did you know that the fastest animal on Earth is the Peregrine falcon (Falco peregrinus)?

This specifically refers to the speed the animal can reach during a dive. During these spectacular dives, also known as “stoops,” the peregrine falcon can reach speeds of up to 390 km/h (242 mph).

If we’re talking about the fastest animal on land, that would be the cheetah (Acinonyx jubatus). The cheetah can reach speeds of 80 to 130 km/h (50 to 81 mph) over short distances of about 500 meters.

In the water, the sailfish (Istiophorus) is the fastest animal. This fish can reach speeds of 110 km/h (68 mph) during short bursts of speed.

Each of these animals has unique adaptations that allow them to achieve such high speeds in their respective environments.
